Eating Glass - Feed Them to the Vultures

It feels weird to worship something that came out a year ago.  However, with Eating Glass‘s final goodbye occurring recently, it feels right to do a writeup about their crushing 7″ Feed Them to the Vultures.

Eight tracks, eleven minutes.  Numbers don’t really mean anything – especially when it comes to hardcore music…usually the best releases are on the shorter side – but for a band to make their first impact so significant in such a short period of time is remarkable.  Eating Glass do just that.  The album’s first two tracks – “Cannibals” and “Amongst the Wolves” – total in at just over a minute, and from the opening battle cry, it is evident that you are in for a destructive ride.  Thrashy metallicized hardcore is blasted at you at a frantic pace from then on.  And yet, despite the intensity and anger that has been thrown at you already, it isn’t fully realized until the two tracks that make up the EP’s title – “Feed Them…” and “…To The Vultures”.  The album only takes time to slow down at the beginning of “Coming Clean”, the epic closer that was often used as a show opener.

If you need anymore incentive, know that these guys were on Chris Colohan‘s – you should know who he is – High Anxiety Records.  If he believed in them, so should you.  Everyone seems to hear different bands in Eating Glass’s sound, but I find a good balance between Cut The Shit and Trash Talk.  Perfect thrashy, powerviolencey hardcore.

This is a band that, in ten years from now, will be recognized for this record.  And in twenty years, this piece of vinyl will be worth a shitload more on Ebay than what I paid for it at a show last year.

And I will never sell it.
