In the vein of my fellow contributor/Claudius HearWaximus/ Judo coach GERGS, this first blog entry will be introductory. As I dip my Archaeopteryx feather quill into a pot of Rasputin’s blood to write this, I feel I should outline what to expect from ALECATRAZ;

I hope to shed light on upcoming interviews and projects I am working on for the site. For example;

An interview in now officially in the works with jazz tech metal overlords THE CRINN (yeah,  sidebar, Dreaming Saturn getting pushed back to 2010?! I swear if Nuclear Blast allows a Swashbuckle release to come out before this one…).  Also, I can proudly say that I will be interviewing New Jersey  tech death outfit The Binary Code. I have been following these dudes for a few years, discussed music and life with their guitarist, and in all honesty it feels brilliant to have our growing success as a site meet with their growing success as a band.

As for reviews and other miscellaneous writings, I am going to have MUTEMATH’s latest work analyzed, coverage of Pissed Jeans, and bring you all my thoughts on the masterpiece “The Hurt Locker” and the arguable masterpiece “Inglorious Basterds”.

Jesus, I say tech a lot. I suppose a keypoint of this blog section will be to further solidify each writer’s background. I have preferences; I have specifics I focus on… I enjoy a lot of death metal and I enjoy a lot of odd times and riffs. Hopefully in this setting I can let that sentiment run wild and off the record. It is important to me as a contributor that I offer fair judgement on all walks of tunes and do the proper research, but I know you tech nerds are out there. I hope to incorporate some of my overarching thoughts and feelings regarding music that I feel really tests the capacity of musical form. Nu grind programmed blast beats and incomprehensible free form randomness do not really approach the limits like good tech does, and when done right, the results really speak to what profound things music is capable of. With enough of that hyperbole, I am pretty stoked to share some of these observations regarding songs, albums, movements, and moments that instil this feeling.

I know these guys, these hearwaxamaticians, I talk to them on a daily basis and we all just cannot shut the hell up about the music and movies that we love and hate. We started this site to give people the painstaking attention to detail and opinion that they deserve when it comes to these subjects. We are all going to sound off about different topics here in these blogs, but in a way, this may just give some context to the works I am reviewing. All inherited bias aside, you as readers deserve to know a little bit more about why I review the way I do, where I get the gall to talk shit about UP, and my background in those respective fields. This site is about what you readers, you readers who need more than a carbon copy blurb to give some added perspective to your likes and dislikes, deserve, and I hope this blog only goes further in that direction.
