Precious, Precious Metal

This one’s a little old by now, but I figured I should get this out there: Decibel is the best printed extreme music magazine. They cover a wealth of artists and have constantly turned me on to new and interesting music. Each month, the editors choose an important album in the canon of hard music and interview all the major participants. It’s a great monthly article that sheds a lot of insight into some of the best recordings out there. I’m picking up my copy soon, I strongly suggest you get yours soon.

From the Decibel Blog:

If we weren’t pompous, if slightly insecure, enough, we, the folks at Decibel, decided it was time to unfurl select pieces from our infamous Hall of Fame pieces in their full glory. In long form. Why? Because, try as we might, some bands have a lot to say and their Earth-shattering stories can’t be contained in a 5,000-word cage.

So, Decibel El Jefe Albert Mudrian used his mighty (Rhapsody of Fire-like, but not quite DragonForce-like) powers to convince publishers Da Capo Press unchain and unlock the best and longest Hall of Fame stories. Hence, Precious Metal: Decibel Presents the Stories Behind 25 Extreme Metal Masterpieces was born.

Today, July 15th, 2009, Da Capo Press releases, nay, unleashes Precious Metal: Decibel Presents the Stories Behind 25 Extreme Metal Masterpieces. Amazing and wild interviews with Black Sabbath, Diamond Head, Slayer, Obituary, Darkthrone, Meshuggah, Kyuss, Emperor, Opeth, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Cannibal Corpse and more are the perfect toilet or continental or international flight companions. They’re insightful, revealing and respectfully cool, composed by some of the best and brightest metal journalists the world has to offer.

Actually, we’d just like you to know Precious Metal: Decibel Presents the Stories Behind 25 Extreme Metal Masterpieces is out. On Amazon, through Decibel (collector nerd alert!!!), or where fine literature is sold.
